Offertoire des Défuntes

£7.00

MICHEL ESTELLET-BRUN was born in Bordeaux in 1943.  He studied at the Schola Cantorum in Paris and later with Gaston Litaize and Pierre Cochereau. He has been the titular organist of the church of St. Georges in Paris since the 1967 and St. Joseph des Nations since  1979 following a period as organist of Beauvais Cathedral.  He has played at important venues in England, Germany and the Czech Republic as well as in France and has a number of recordings to his credit, including one of his own oratorio, La Passion à Ménilmontant

In memory of the composer’s mother, this Offertoire started as an improvisation.  It is quite dissonant but the music creates a powerful, almost overwhelming impression.

This publication includes a comprehensive guide to playing modern French organ music by Michel’s friend, David Adkins.

We are very pleased to be able to publish this music in our ‘International Recital Series’

Poème de l’Avent (D)

£10.00

This music originated as an improvisation in the most authentic fashion of the genre.  It is challenging technically but also has moments of intoxicating beauty.

Stabat Mater (B)

Soprano and Organ

£7.00

Originally part of the oratorio ‘La Passion à Ménilmontant (for soloists chorus and orchestra) this movement for soprano and organ is now made available separately.  It is exceedingly beautiful and we are honoured to have this piece in our lists.  At nearly 9 minutes length it is too long for an anthem but it could be part of a concert with a Lenten theme, or, as your publisher plans to do, could be incorporated into an organ recital to provide an element of variety.  The style is clearly and rewardingly modern French.
