Matin Setchell’s name will be very familiar in the UK to those of you who go truffle-hunting amongst the offerings of another publisher of church music (the one with glossy covers, and bindings that do not open properly without destroying the spine). The movements in the ‘Three Piece Suite’ were originally published in separate volumes of miscellaneous items, and Martin wished them to appear as a Suite.  When this request was declined, permission was then given for the pieces to be transferred to Fagus-Music.com to be issued in this format.  Various revisions and adjustments have now been incorporated in line with the composer’s current interpretation.

As regards the second item, the song ‘Pokarekare Ana’ on which this Suite is based is so popular in New Zealand that it is often referred to as the country's 'unofficial national anthem'. Though often represented as a classic example of a traditional Maori melody, it is actually a love song composed around 1914 at the outbreak of war.

As a composer Martin concentrates on writing tuneful and accessible organ and choral music, which is published and played all over the world, and Fagus-Music.com is delighted to welcome him to our lists.
